Who is Stephan de Lange — and what do I do?
I am Stephan de Lange, a freelance professional based in Amsterdam. I describe myself as a creative thinker, maker and doer — and that is not just a tagline. In my daily work I combine skills that rarely sit in one person: I manage construction projects, develop physical products, build websites and mediate in conflicts. Not because I spread myself thin, but because these disciplines genuinely overlap in complex projects.
I run two businesses: Stephan de Lange as a freelance professional for design, web and project work, and Beitelbeestje as a small manufacturing workshop for physical products. Between the two I cover the full range from digital to physical.
What I do for clients
Project management
I manage projects in construction and renovation, product development and web. I keep timelines on track, coordinate between parties, manage budgets and make sure the end result matches what was agreed. I work as an independent project manager — meaning I represent the client, not the contractor.
Building supervision
For renovation and construction projects I act as an independent building supervisor. I visit the site regularly, check quality and progress, assess additional work claims and protect the client’s interests throughout the build. I have the technical knowledge to understand what I am looking at — and the communication skills to deal with contractors effectively.
Product development
From a sketch on the back of a napkin to a manufactured product — I guide the entire development process. I work in Fusion 360 for 3D design, use my own CNC router and 3D printer for prototypes, and coordinate with manufacturers for series production. I help clients validate their idea before spending large amounts on tooling and production.
Web development
I build websites using WordPress and Elementor, primarily for freelancers and small businesses. I focus on websites that look professional, load quickly, and are found in search engines. I also help with SEO strategy and Google Analytics setup so clients understand what their website is actually doing.
Mediation
When projects go wrong and parties can no longer talk to each other, I step in as a neutral mediator. I have experience with construction conflicts, project disputes and business conflicts between partners. My technical background means I can quickly understand what the actual points of dispute are — which speeds up the process considerably.

My background
I was born in 1985 and have been working independently since my twenties. My background is in technical education, and over the years I have developed expertise in construction, product development, digital design and communication. I speak Dutch, English and German — which is useful in international projects and when working with contractors or suppliers from different countries.
I am based in Amsterdam but work throughout the Netherlands and occasionally beyond.
